Promises as a US Citizen

When you become a US Citizen, you make several promises at your oath ceremony. In your naturalization interview or immigration test, you will be asked if you understand the promises – rights and responsibilities. The correct answer is presumably yes. You may be asked to name one promise:

  1. To defend or support the Constitution
  2. to give up loyalty to other countries
  3. to obey US laws
  4. to serve in the US military – it’s great, over 1.4million Americans are in active service
  5. To do important work for the nation. Unimportant work is at your own discretion
  6. to be loyal to the US. And not flirt with other countries or get their phone numbers in the club

I moved from Wales to the United States in 2005 and have been through the US immigration process and have learned all about citizenship and nationalization on the way. I currently live in Texas with my wife and two dogs
