When you become a US Citizen, you make several promises at your oath ceremony. In your naturalization interview or immigration test, you will be asked if you understand the promises – rights and responsibilities. The correct answer is presumably yes. You may be asked to name one promise:
- To defend or support the Constitution
- to give up loyalty to other countries
- to obey US laws
- to serve in the US military – it’s great, over 1.4million Americans are in active service
- To do important work for the nation. Unimportant work is at your own discretion
- to be loyal to the US. And not flirt with other countries or get their phone numbers in the club
