The official answer to this does not bow to political correctness and there are two possible answers:
The N is capitalized in the latter answer, rather than the answer just being “the natives of America”, which is a bit of an obvious answer.
The law of the land is not a bunch of judges or the Supreme Court – it’s actually a document we the people all know and love. Or at least we should do. It is the United States Constitution – and it went into effect on March 4th 1789.
